NEW DELHI: An elderly couple was tragically found dead and decomposing in Kohat Enclave, sparking a search for their missing house help. The victims, identified as Mohinder Singh, a 70-year-old readymade garment shop owner, and his wife Diljeet Kaur, were discovered in a state of decay in their home.
The couple, who lived alone, had two sons and a daughter who were unaware of their parents’ deaths until informed by a driver. Mohinder Singh had been unwell for several months and was being cared for by an attendant named Ravi, who had recently proposed a replacement due to taking leave.

The replacement, a man unknown to the family, was hired three days before the tragic incident. Singh was strangled with an oxygen pipe, while his wife was struck on the head with an iron rod.
Police were alerted by a call regarding a foul smell coming from the couple’s residence. Upon arrival, they discovered the bodies in separate rooms on the third floor of the building. The state of decomposition indicated they had been deceased for approximately two to three days.
Authorities also found evidence of an attempted break-in of a locker inside the house. A search is underway for the missing attendant, and a case has been filed. Efforts are being made to locate Ravi, who arranged for the replacement.

Charanpreet Singh, one of the couple’s sons, recounted how their driver had visited the house and received no response. The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the truth behind this heinous crime.
We reside in the vicinity. Upon arrival, the driver notified us that my parents were not responding to the doorbell. My wife took it upon herself to investigate and discovered my father’s lifeless body on the bed, while my mother’s body was found in another room, recounted Charanpreet Singh.
He went on to mention that the most recent caretaker had only been hired three days prior.
We have cooperated fully with the authorities, providing them with all the necessary information regarding the suspect. After reviewing the CCTV footage, we learned that the individual had left the premises early in the morning two days ago, carrying a backpack, Charanpreet disclosed. He expressed uncertainty regarding the items that may have been taken from the house.
