Delhi | Maurya Enclave Robbery Bid Foiled by Quick-Thinking Elderly Woman and Daughter

Date:

NEW DELHI: A courageous elderly woman and her daughter successfully thwarted a robbery attempt when two armed men, disguised as courier delivery agents, tried to loot their home in northwest Delhi’s Maurya Enclave, according to police reports on Thursday.

The incident took place on Monday afternoon at the residence of Hemant Kumar (75), a businessman living in Pitampura with his wife Kamlesh Arora (72), daughter Payal, and son. A man wearing a helmet and covering his face rang the doorbell, pretending to be a courier delivery agent. When Kamlesh opened the gate, he allegedly grabbed her by the throat and attempted to strangle her, as reported by a senior police officer.

Upon hearing the commotion, Payal rushed out of the room, only to be met by another intruder pointing a pistol at her head. Despite the perilous situation, Payal bravely pushed the assailants away and quickly locked the door from inside, causing the robbers to flee the scene.

A case has been filed, and authorities are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the attempted robbery.
