Delhi | Woman’s Tragic End: “Chhodna Mat Usko” Cryptic Message Unravels Heartbreaking Tale of Harassment in Uttam Nagar

Date:

NEW DELHI: A heartbreaking incident occurred last Saturday night in Uttam Nagar, where a 27-year-old woman tragically took her own life, leaving behind a mysterious message on the wall in Hindi that read, “chhodna mat usko,” along with a mobile number. The police were left perplexed by the cryptic message and the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to authorities, the woman, who worked as a lab assistant at a private school and also served as a civil defense volunteer, left behind a two-page note accusing a man and his family members of harassing her. The note revealed that she had lent them over ₹2 lakh for their mother’s medical treatment, but they refused to repay the loan despite her repeated requests.

The woman’s younger sister, a 25-year-old primary school teacher, shed light on the situation, stating, “My sister has given him and his brother over ₹2 lakh for their mother’s medical treatment. They were not returning the money despite her repeated requests. For the past few weeks, they were threatening and harassing her.”

In response to the tragic incident, a case of abetment to suicide was registered under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Uttam Nagar police station. The FIR was filed on Tuesday by their 29-year-old elder sister, who works at a boutique.

The woman lived with her mother and siblings at the house, and her body was discovered by her elder sister upon her return home around 9 pm on Saturday. The police are currently searching for the man and his family members mentioned in the note, who are currently on the run. Raids are being conducted to apprehend them and bring them to justice.
