Teachers make their day on a melodious note with SAAKAR

A teacher is one who not only teaches the nitty gritty of academia but introduces one to the new world around and guides him through the way as well.

The fifth edition of ‘aaghaz- the other side’ invited teachers from various schools across the city of Delhi, who enthralled the august gathering comprising judges, beauracrats, academicians and noted scribes with their scintillating display of vocal cords. The programme began with Saraswati Vandna and gradually the pace moved to some peppy tracks. Teachers with musical know-how, showcased on stage a good deal of zeal that brought them laurels galore.

“The event mounted today was all about paying respects to the teachers, this fraternity is a real architect of the nation.” Ajay Chaudhry IPS spoke remembering his father Dr Ram Singh who himself was a great teacher and author.

Chhap tilak sab chheeni, aaj jaane ki zid na karo, yaad piya ki aaye these typical classical raag- bandish compositions were among the best that stole the show.

Dr Ashok Pandey, an eminent educationist, in his address stressed the importance of a teacher in one’s life. “A teacher enlightens the path of his disciple, it’s about time we recognised the real treasure hidden in a teacher. He lays the foundations of one’s career and instills the values in him and makes his life ethically more meaningful.

“We organised this programme with intent to facilitate and respect our teachers, the real gurus who in fact have taught us to walk through the labyrinths of life, guru gobind dou khade, ka ke laangu paaye, balihaari guru aapne gobind diyo bataye. This is the teacher only who helped me meet the Divine” Sandeep Sehgal, President of SAAKAR (NGO) concluded reciting exuberantly this couplet from Sant Kabir.

The three- hour- long programme organised by SAAKAR in association with Ahlcon International School laid great emphasis on values of a teacher who plays a pivtol role in shaping the students’ career. Ahlcon Public, Ahlcon International, DPS, The Indian School, DAV, RAKV and Ramjas were among the participants.

Present at the event were SN Srivastava, IPS, Deepak Mishra IPS (retd.) a music aficionado with a deep love of a classical music genre, Devesh C. Srivastava Jt.CP southern range, NS Bundela Jt. CP Traffic, Devender Arya IPS, Vajayanti Arya, Swati Maliwal chairperson DCW and Ambica Chaudhry MD, Peeli Kothi, (a house of haute couture).
Other prominent guests, the part of this musical evening were Pradeep Mahajan, Nelson David, Awdesh Tyagi, Rahul Sharma and Sanjay Sehrawat.

Shankar Sahney, a popular Punjabi pop singer crooned in style electrifying the atmosphere with all oomph and he wholly dedicated some of his hits to honoring the teachers on the occasion.
Kabhi aar kabhi paar, an old foot-tapping track left many swaying.

Anchor Rashmi emceed the event with finess, she held the audience hostage with some jazzy questionnaire. The teachers seemed in a retro mood; they sang with panache the numbers of the 60s and 70s that kind of evoked nostalgia.

The band orchestrated a fine tune and beat in sync; held those present at the event in thrall.
