Ghazipur Mandi, East Delhi
Crimes like robbery, loot and murder have been on the rise in this area for some time. In broad daylight, a man was killed in east Delhi’s Ghazipur Mandi around 2 in the afternoon.
The deceased Aftab 53, had been working as an accountant with Mohammad Anees, a meat trader for the past one and a half years. He was on his way back home from the mandi. No sooner did he reach the gate near the parking lot than a bullet hit him in the head. He fell down, bled profusely and rushed to LBS hospital (Lal Bahadur Shastri) where he succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment.
Property discord was the root cause of the murder, a source said. He was shot down only when he resisted the loot, another said. The police are looking into the matter from different angles taking loot in view is one. One person was detained for any concrete information in this regard but to no avail.
No arrest has been made in this connection.
There is no police picket; foot patrolling is quite thin. The mere barricade checking is no good that may deter crime.
The police have registered the case under the relevant sections of the IPC, the probe is on.
