Lt. Guv inaugrates revamped police booth at Khan Market

With the joint efforts of Delhi Police and NDMC, a police booth at Delhi’s tony Khan Market already revamped was unveiled by Lieutenant Governor, Delhi Anil Baijal. This booth equipped with hi-tech refurbished by NDMC will remain in visible right at the centre of the upscale bazaar.

This transparent booth accessible to the public prides itself on modern technology and on-line services of the city police. Complainants do not need to go to the police station for their grievances including thefts, mobile phone lost, valuable missing, police assistance, tenant verification and etcetera instead they can do it via internet from this police kiosk.

For the past 30 years, this booth has been in existence here at the chic Khan Market popular with footfalls of expats, foreign diplomats and VVIPs. This police assistance will serve 24×7 with Delhi Police personnel to help those needing police help. Besides, a Lady Public Facilitation Officer will be there to guide and facilitate the public during day time. Whereas, the NDMC will help in the maintenance of the booth.

Visitors will also find brochures on various online and offline services being provided by Delhi Police.
On the occasion, Asmita Theatre Group performed a Nukkad Natak (street play) on the theme of vulnerability of the women with a message that they should raise their voice and expose their tormentors.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Anil Baijal, Hon’ble LG, Delhi appreciated the joint efforts of NDMC & Delhi Police for giving facelift and providing public oriented facilities at the newly inaugurated police booth. It will enhance accessibility and hassle free redressal of police related grievances, besides strengthening police-public interface.
Such types of booths will soon be replicated in other districts of Delhi.
Present at the event were Meenakashi Lekhi MP LS (BJP), New Delhi Constituency, Amulya Patnaik, Commissioner of Police, Delhi and Naresh Kumar, Chairman, NDMC.

Other top brass of the force were special Commissioner of Police RP Upadhyay, Joint Commissioner of Police, New Delhi Range Ajay Chaudhry, DCP district New Delhi Madhur Verma. Secretary NDMC, other senior officers of the NDMC and representatives of Khan Market Association were also present.
