First District trained graduate constables as IOs, felicitated
The district police imparted training in Investigating Officer’s job to graduate constables. Keeping in view the less number of IOs available to handle an upsurge in cases comprising free registration, online FIRs etcetera. This move, to a great extent may unburden the mountainous task piling up at police stations.
Delhi Police decided to train its graduate constables with 10 years of service in investigation of motor vehicle theft, online FIRs etc. so that the additional trained hands can speed disposing cases and ensuring timely justice.
October last year, South-East District shortlisted 100 graduate constables for training. In the first batch of trainees, 45 constables were given training in two and a half months course held at Specialized Training Unit (STU), Chitranjan Park on 10th October last year.
The event unprecented was attended by Devesh Chandra Srivastava, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police, Southern Range. This Valedictory function was organised at C.R. Park, Chief Guest Devesh C Srivastava boosted the morale of the force and congratulated the constables for successful completion of training as IOs.
The constables selected were imparted training in investigating skills, knowledge about IPC, CrPC and Local & Special Law and varied practical aspects of investigation that includes examination of crime scene, lifting and packing of exhibits, preparation of charge-sheet and court proceedings via moot court. Trainees were also sensitized regarding gender issues, Human Rights, Community Service, issues related to North Eastern people.
The training part was provided by guest faculty, experts, retired and serving ACsP and SHOs.
Joint CP D C Srivastva awarded the trainees who secured top ranks in the exam with certificates and cash rewards.
Constable Lalit secured 1st rank in the exams, followed by constable Sanjay Yadav, constable Sanjeev and constable Sanjay was also felicitated with most disciplined trainee.
Constable Lalit had the highest attendance mark during the training period. The examination paper of the constables was prepared and evaluated by ACP rank officers of the South-East District.
The IO constables were introduced to make use of recently introduced E-Nipun software, which will help them during investigation and to remain disciplined and punctual during working.
On the occasion, DCP Chinmoy Biswal stated that the South-East District has become the first District in Delhi to launch this training programme for graduate constables. He further stated that the training will go on until all eligible constables are provided training to become IOs.
Devesh Chandra Srivastva added saying that the way E-Malkana which was first introduced by the South-East District in August-2018, which later became the benchmark for all the districts of Delhi to follow and digitize their malkhanas. Similarly, this training programme of constables will also set an example to others.
The event came to an end with vote of thanks presented by Hareesh H.P. Addl. DCP South-East District who also closely supervised the training programme.
